A Few Common Questions:
What if my tax information does not reflect my current circumstances?
Complete the FAFSA with your information, and then contact the post-secondary school to see if your situation qualifies for any special considerations (e.g. divorce or death in the family, a major change in income, etc.)
Who is my parent?
Parents live together: include both on the FAFSA.
Parents are divorced or separated: include the parent that you lived with more during the past 12 months
If equal, include the parent that provided more financial support in the last 12 months
If equal, determine which parent to put on the FAFSA
If putting a parent on the FAFSA that has remarried, the stepparent’s financial information must also be included on the FAFSA.
